Difficulties in Administration
• If the prescribed drug cannot be given via the advised route, it must not be administered any other way. (Nasal administration as a last resort may be used if stated in care plan)
• The person will still need medical intervention so you will need to ring ‘999’or 112 emergency services for an ambulance

Consequences of too much Medication
If staff have been appropriately trained in the administration of medication, they are following the person’s care plan and they are aware of when the person last had the medication, the potential for overdose should be minimal
If it is suspected the person has had to much of the drug, immediate medical attention is needed and you must ring 999.
